Packing for FA Safety

Happy travelers

Essentials for Food Allergy/Asthma safety:

In addition to clothes, shoes, toiletries, and emergency medication (for all conditions) we travel with a few extra essentials.  It helped us to create a safer, less anxious family vacation;

  • Plastic storage container with;
    • Small cutting board
    • Small paring knife
    • Plastic storage bags
    • A few sporks (fork/spoon combo – very handy)
    • Kitchen towel
    • New sponge
    • Spatula/pancake flipper
  • Small Frying pan – option: purchase a frying pan at your vacation location and ditch it before you leave – that’s what we did.  I met a recent college grad, vegan who also travels with one.
  • Small cookie sheet – we used ours often during our recent travels
  • Oven mitt – you would be surprised how some homes lack this essential item
  • Asthma?  Peak flow meter and disposable mouth tubes
  • Contact list – Pack a hard copy in case you lose your phone or it is stolen
  • Copy of your loved ones diagnosis and a letter from your doctor detailing special needs

This list may sound obsessive and of course it can be modified or enhanced.  When we move from location to location we add the following; kitchen trash bags, paper towels and napkins to the list.  Saves time and money! You never know what you will find or lack at your destination.
